And that was the general point behind a federal effort to collect pay information from companies, sorted by gender and race.Cooked up during the Obama years by the EEOC, the idea was to have companies, with more than 100 employees, share information on pay, as they already do on their demographics.The information would be useful for the companies themselves, perhaps leading some to fix problems. It would've also helped the EEOC figure out if a company had a problem with pay discrimination.Unsurprisingly, the Trump administration has been fighting this effort for years (with "feminist" Ivanka Trump's blessing).
