(Read more about it here.)California opened up a similar litigation window more than a decade ago for sex abuse victims, and the Catholic Church wound up paying them $1.2 billion to victims. The church is bracing for a similar hit in New York.“This is a momentous time for courageous survivors who have waited so long for justice in New York,” a lawyer whose firm plans to file hundreds of molestation lawsuits Wednesday told the Associated Press. Already on Wednesday, Jennifer Araoz, one of the dozens of women who said they were abused by the recently deceased Jeffrey Epstein, sued his estate.“While I am angry that Mr. Epstein’s death means he will never personally answer to me in the court of law," Araoz told reporters on a conference call Wednesday.
