Still, it can be a bit intimidating to bring up. To take some of the stress out of the conversation, I asked fertility experts and women who’ve broached the subject in their own relationships to share some pointers. Here's what they had to say.

This week, as part of HuffPost's series on losing a parent, senior reporter Kelsey Borresen asked grief therapists and counselors how to have an age-appropriate, honest conversation about death and grief with kids. (One of the most important things you can do? Field their questions and just be their sounding board. “Adults assume they know what their kids are thinking or afraid about and it’s often quite surprising,” Ellen Roese, a licensed clinical social worker, told Kelsey.)
