Click here Who's Got The Advantage, Again?I can't believe this needed to be explained, but here we go: Don't worry, men still can have it all. There's this actual idea floating around now that because Democratic women did well in the midterms, voters want a woman to be president in 2020. Voters need for a female president is so intense, the argument goes, that men are now at a disadvantage in the 2020 race. (At least on the Democratic side.)This idea of the struggling men is so entrenched, among men mostly it seems, that Vanity Fair even asked presidential hopeful Beto O'Rourke about it in a recent profile.Being a white man in a party “longing for a woman or a person of color” is perhaps O’Rourke’s “biggest vulnerability,” reporter Joe Hagan wrote, apparently in earnest, in his profile of the failed Senate candidate.NBC’s Chuck Todd also raised this possibility in an interview with O’Rourke last weekend. But the former Texas congressman dismissed the idea ― rightfully so.Faithful readers of this email newsletter know that this is some bullshit. Yes, women did do well in the midterms but they still hold less than a quarter of the seats in Congress. That's not equality my friends. And just because voters are OK with women as deliberators, doesn't mean voters want a woman as the decider. There's a ways to go on this...And Beto is hardly running behind in the race.
