According to the New Yorker article, Trump in 2017 ordered Gary Cohn, then director of the National Economic Council, to direct the Justice Department to block AT&T’s acquisition of Time Warner, which owns CNN. The alleged attempt was seen as an effort to retaliate against CNN for its critical reporting on the Trump administration. In being excluded from hosting the DNC’s debates, Fox could lose out on a major ratings opportunity. The first Democratic debate in October 2015 reached nearly 16 million viewers.WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING?Here’s exactly what the Democrats’ Trump investigators are looking for in their *exhaustive document request. The distribution of Dems’ initial 81 document requests — sent Monday to an array of individuals, organizations and government agencies — reveals a lot about congressional investigators’ plans.Speaking of those requests...The White House this week rejected a request from Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) to hand over documents and details related to its security clearance process. Cummings announced in January the committee’s investigation into the White House’s handling of classified information dating back to Trump’s 2016 election. The chairman said at the time that the security clearance abuses are “grave breaches of national security at the highest levels.”Anderson Cooper rips Ivanka Trump: ‘What does she actually do?’ After CNN reported Tuesday that President Donald Trump pushed then-chief of staff John Kelly and White House counsel Don McGahn to grant his daughter top security clearance despite their objections, Cooper noted that Ivanka, a senior adviser, apparently wanted the clearance to study briefing books on foreign trips. She's baaack!
