That is more than six times what Congress allocated for border projects in each of the past two fiscal years. [Reuters] [Tweet | Share on Facebook] CHINA GROUNDS 737 FLEET China’s civilian aviation authority ordered all Chinese airlines to temporarily ground Boeing 737 Max 8 planes after one crashed in Ethiopia, killing 157 people. Another 737 Max 8 crashed into the ocean near Indonesia in similar circumstances on Dec. 29, killing all aboard. The Civil Aviation Administration of China said the grounding order was for safety concerns. [AP] TUCKER TAPES REVEAL MISOGYNY Fox News host Tucker Carlson made a series of shocking comments about women, according to radio clips uncovered by Media Matters for America. The remarks, made prior to and during his employment at the cable network, including instances where he called women “extremely primitive,” said a teacher sleeping with an underage male student was “doing a service to all 13-year-old girls” and lambasted rape shield laws as “totally unfair” because they protected victims. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), the third-ranking House Republican, criticized Trump’s reported plan to force U.S. allies to pay billions of dollars more for hosting American troops on their soil. A new formula, which Trump has dubbed “cost plus 50,” could cause affected countries to contribute five times what they currently do. Cheney told NBC’s “Meet The Press” that the impact of this plan would be “absolutely devastating” to U.S. diplomacy. The former judge said on Saturday that the lawmaker’s hijab may be “antithetical to the Constitution” -- even though the First Amendment guarantees religious freedom and free speech rights.
